Up till now I have been keeping all the details of the events in WORD documents
on my home computer.
Each time there was a new event or a change of an existing event, the word
document needed to be changed.
Then a new Web Page had to be created reflecting the new details.
The new web page had to be sent to our Server to put it on their computer so that anyone
can download it and show it on their browser.
All visitors to the site will be able to see a list of all the events, which have been notified to us. They will also be able to to view just those for the coming week, or month, etc., and they can view just those for a particular art form, and so on.
Members of Societies, (and it would be best to restrict this to one member per society) can enter their events directly onto the website. They can also amend or delete their events. The listing will be used as the basis for the printed leaflet, but the Editor of the leaflet, will check the entries for suitability, and size. (because of limited space entries may have to be curtailed)
Once an officer of a society has registered their details, they will be able to Log In when they visit the site to be able to access special facilities.
Although the number of boxes shown may look rather daunting, most of them are optional. But they are put in to remind you of the things people like to know about an event. The form has been designed to keep to a minmum the amount of typing required. PLEASE KEEP ALL ENTRIES AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE TO FIT ONTO OUR LEAFLET.
To Save you typing, you will see a box with a down arrow (V) on the right.
Clicking on this arrow will reveal a list of societies already using the
list of events. If your society is not on the list, click on "Enter a New society".
You will be taken to a page where you can enter its name. SELECT ENTER.You can return to the
form where you will find your society is now on the list.
Select your society and press return and it will be entered for you.
Use the same method as detailed above for society name
You do not need to enter the day of the week - the computer will work it out for you. But if you enter a wrong Weekday, the computer will change it. If this is not what you expected, then check your calender.
'TO' DATE
If you enter a To date which is before the From Date you will get an Error.
There should be no problem entering "alphanumeric" items. (A-Z, a-z,0-9), but there is a bug when using some of the symbols available on your keyboard. Particularly troublesome are single quotes ('), and double quotes ("). These may be replaced by a backward sloping single quote (`)
Some symbols will be removed altogether, like 'less than' (<) and `more than` (>)
